Pre-Sail Inspection

The purpose of a Pre-Sail Inspection is to give one final check on the status and temperature of loaded refrigerated containers immediately prior to a vessels departing port. Numerous steps are performed to ensure a very thorough last once-over. Below is a summary of these steps.

Inspection Summary

Vessel personnel are informed of Pre-Sail commencement
Vessel personnel are requested that they be present
Look for abnormal operation prior to loading
Confirm set-point temperature is inline with the Shipping Lines manifest
Confirm air-vent setting is inline with the Shipping Lines manifest
Record the supply and return air temperatures
Ensure fan motors have correct rotation
Inspect refrigerant charge
Confirm defrost timer setting is correct
Ensure compressor oil level is suitable
With any found discrepancies, advise agent or vessels' personnel for clarification
Discuss any final queries the vessel personnel may have
Request a signature and vessel stamp from authorized personnel on the vessel
