Pre-Sail Inspection

The purpose of a Pre-Sail Inspection is to give one final check on the status and temperature of loaded refrigerated containers immediately prior to a vessels departing port. Numerous steps are performed to ensure a very thorough last once-over. Below is a summary of these steps.

Inspection Summary

  • Vessel personnel are informed of Pre-Sail commencement
  • Vessel personnel are requested that they be present
  • Look for abnormal operation prior to loading
  • Confirm set-point temperature is inline with the Shipping Lines manifest
  • Confirm air-vent setting is inline with the Shipping Lines manifest
  • Record the supply and return air temperatures
  • Ensure fan motors have correct rotation
  • Inspect refrigerant charge
  • Confirm defrost timer setting is correct
  • Ensure compressor oil level is suitable
  • With any found discrepancies, advise agent or vessels' personnel for clarification
  • Discuss any final queries the vessel personnel may have
  • Request a signature and vessel stamp from authorized personnel on the vessel
